Friday 1st April (Graeme & Sandra)

Getting up to a very sunny hot morning we wanderd down Route 66 on  Williams high street for breakfast, and a look round the shops before setting off for the Canyon to find our hotel in the middle of the forest close to the rim of the canyon, we then went up to the rim to find a spectacle you cannot explain it was phenomal, nothing like we had imagined by seeing  the photos of it, it was breathtaking ,as we were having a picnic who should wander by but Des, Pat, Martin & Racheal looking very relaxed  enjoying the view since we parted they told us they had had a excelant time visiting Roswell driving many small roads lots of local ale and visiting Billy the Kid they were full of it,
As we have been in touch by phone all the way it didnt surprise us too much to see them  there, We arranged to meet them in Vagas they said they were booked into the Luxor Hotel on the Strip ( the big one shaped like a pyramid) Pats dream hotel!!
Hopefully we might see them at the  Hoover Dam on Sunday.
We then left to go to the Airport for a trip of a life time, it was a bit daunting to be shown the plane we would be going in, it was a 6 seater , single prop plane, the pilot was just doing his checks , then we were away just us, the navigator and the pilot,
I had planned it as a treat for Graeme, but he insisted it was my Mothers Day pressie!
It was up up & away what a treat, the photos dont do it justice!  we were up for nearly a hour  and what a sight, the navigator gave us a running commentry with the history of the canyon and the colorado river he was excellant.
on the way back from the airport we saw some Elk on the side of the road, we then went back to our hotel for a lazy night stargazing wow there was loads we even saw several shooting stars as there was no light polution.
Getting up today Saturday off we went to Ride Route 66 from Flagstaff to Kingman we thinks it the only original bit left!!
After a bit of laundry we went for Tea a the Golden Coral the best yet!!! Graeme had  the biggest Steak ever it was 2inch thick and the size of the plate even i had a small one too.
Off tomorrow (sunday) to see the HooverDam then 2 nights at Las Vegas with Des, Pat, Martin & Rachael.
